lyrics

The Revolving Door

There was a black snake hiding under the sun
Waiting for tomorrow night to come
A spoonful of bromide helps the pulse rate go down
The Crazy World of Arthur Brown

There was peace and love back in 69
As they were subjected to the times
Under the Sign on the Chinese calendar
So the named the band Atomic Rooster

It all started with Mr. Crane on the organ
And Carl behind the drums
Then they met Brian Jones
Who had been let go from The Rolling Stones

So in March, they added Jon Dunn
Playing guitar and vocals it had to be done
It wasn’t far after that they met Chris Farlowe
Exploding on the kit with Ric Parnell

Walking through the band’s revolving door
Their records reaching shelves on the record stores
Appearing on TV playing Stand By Me
Until their sales slipped to some degree

Bridge
Can’t find a reason
Don’t know what they are
Head in the sky
You’re sleeping too long

I can’t take no more
Decline and fall
Hold it through the night
The Revolving Door

*organ solo

The more they got deeper into soul
The more lost their Rock n Roll
Steve Bolton bolted from the group
A new ingredient was added to the soup
Under the name of Johnny Mandala
Who could toss his own salada.
But the dressing was Peter French
Who decided to throw in the wrench

The band with a revolving door
Reaching the record stores
Appearing on TV playing
Stand By Me
Their sales slipped by an inch
Until they added Peter

Can’t find a reason
Don’t know what they are
Head in the sky
You’re sleeping too long

I can’t take no more
Decline and fall
Hold it through the night
The Revolving Door
